1. CHOCOLATE and GRADUATION, by Carmen Arias
As you can imagine , most of the year we have had the
cloud of Final exams above our heads . Being this so , we had just a small
number of classes left after the course , most of them tests.
Nevertheless, I managed to practise one of the
activities we did as a relaxing way to say goodbye to the year , before
sending them off to the real world.
We did a quick oral activity with the Word “
chocolate” referring to the senses , - This was at the same time a revIew of
the vocabulary on senses included in their syllabus – and led to a discussion
about their preferences between sweet or bitter taste! I must say sweet won.
The second part , finding words within the wors
CHOCOLATE was quick and fun , as many of the words we found in our practise in
the course appeared naturally in the two minutes they had, nouns and adjectives
without problem.
Then I upgraded the activity with another challenge –
Find words, nouns and adjectives coming out of the Word G_R_A_D_U_A_T_I_O_N
following the same procedure , but giving them four
minutes. It got more difficult , as there is no E , one of the most used vowels
in English , neither other consonants that could help like S , L …
Anyway, words found included :
DATA GRAN
( from granny) TON RATIO NO
TORN TAN TAR RAT GROIN (some giggling after explanation ,
not all knew the word) TAG NOD TIN and of course some nonsense words that made
us laugh, as well as Spanish words !
After that they classified the words into three
categories Adjectives, Nouns and Verbs .
